X arrives on televisions to compete with YouTube and bring back advertisers


Elon Musk has never hidden his ambition: to make X a jack-of-all-trades platform. Telephone calls, news agency wire service called XWire, WhatsApp-style messaging… The billionaire has specific plans in mind despite the enormous drop in popularity of the social network formerly called Twitter.

The businessman will soon launch his streaming platform on televisions. Enough to compete with YouTube, the market leader for years?

Bring back advertisers, attract videographers

X is coming to connected televisions and will allow you to watch long videos. No doubt encouraged by the success of MrBeast, 28.9 million followers on the social network, Elon Musk is preparing to take the second step.

Remember that the videographer, who publishes his content in full on X, accumulates millions of views.

By becoming a TV streaming platform, X wants to push content creators to publish long-form videos. Users will spend more time on the social network and advertisers could return after deserting the platform due to hate speech which continues to grow there.

The goal is therefore for spectators to watch “long videos on a bigger screen”. Knowing that video represents the bulk of the session for eight out of ten users according to X, the objective is clear.

Since exclusive content is needed, X prepares its own exclusive shows in partnership with personalities like Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon, former anchors of Fox News and CNN respectively. In France, nothing has been announced. These exclusive productions would essentially target American users.

Elon Musk constantly pushes creators to post long videos on X to make money. When a user has a certified account, they can claim the remuneration set up by the platform. And therefore multiply its sources of income outside of YouTube, the leader in the field.
