For the first time, Microsoft officially mentions keyboard and mouse support on its Cloud Gaming service. The information comes from the director of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, in addition to the catalog of games for Xbox and PC, it is possible to play cloud gaming from many devices (connected TV, slightly old PC, smartphones, etc.). If you play on PC, you must have already noticed a small limit to the formula: it is currently impossible to play cloud gaming on the Game Pass without an associated controller.
According to Jorg Neumann, director of Microsoft Flight Simulator who was speaking during a Q&A (through Windows Central), it is approaching. “The next step for us is the mouse and [et] the keyboard. » However, he moderates: “This is platform-level support, so it has nothing to do with us. It is obvious that the mouse and keyboard work for our simulation game. The platform team is therefore working on this point. I don’t know their dates, but it’s coming soon. »
First official recognition
The announcement may not seem very surprising. After all, Microsoft built its fortune on Windows, a PC-based OS. His little beasts generally need a keyboard and a mouse to function. We therefore suspected that the support would end up being announced.
But still, this is the first time we hear a Microsoft official recognize this intention.
Such an addition would make game genres that are not very suitable for the controller playable via cloud gaming. Of course, we think first of all of strategy games like Age of Empires IVbut also all those who join the Game Pass like Total War: Warhammer III for example. More broadly, the many FPS found in the Game Pass catalog would immediately become much more attractive in the cloud for PC players.
It’s a safe bet that not all games will offer it, as is the practice for games compatible with touch controls for mobile players. Indeed, the games benefiting from it all have a small icon which makes it possible to distinguish them from the others.
