Not happy to get paid last year ZeniMax Media (Bethesda) for $7.5 billion, Microsoft justannounce takeover of the group Activision-Blizzard, which therefore includes these two companies, but also the mobile games giant King. No, you are not dreaming and the sum is astronomical, the net transaction amounting to $68.7 billion !
As the visual shown for the occasion clearly shows, these are prestigious licenses such asOverwatch, Diablo, World of Warcard, Starcraft, candy Crush, the essential call of duty or Crash Bandicoot and spyro, formerly standard-bearers of playstation, which pass under the lap ofXbox with this acquisition, with all that implies on the esports side and the multiple studios working on these series, counting more than 10,000 employees around the world. Strangely, Bobby Kotick will continue to officiate as CEO ofActivision-Blizzard despite its setbacks of last year, at least until the conclusion of the deal… So, of course, the transaction will not be completed until fiscal year 2023, but unless there is a big turnaround in situation, difficult to see what could go wrong, even if Microsoft now finds itself more than ever in a position of trust.
