What we see in Game Pass is a service that supports all kinds of games, from the biggest games to unknown indie games that you didn’t know you’d like until you played them. If you’re an individual publisher, you really need to think about “how do I get everyone to play my game.” I think a lot of publishers are naturally drawn to creating blockbuster games that are as big as possible. We want to do that too, of course. But because we have a platform and a subscription service, getting people to play more and stay engaged on the platform, frankly, regardless of what type of games they’re playing, is a very viable part of our strategy.
THE Game Pass is therefore beneficial for small studios as well as Microsoftwhich still spends a billion dollars each year to negotiate the presence of third-party games in its subscription service. A financially expensive commercial strategy, but which suits Phil Spencer very well for the moment. The boss of Xbox had also refuted the idea of integrating the Game Pass on PlayStation Or Nintendo.
