Too bad for nostalgics whose subscription dates back to 2006, the time has come to turn the page on Xbox Live Gold and bring everyone together under the Game Pass crest, which will therefore be available in four flavors from 14 September 2023. To the Console (10.99 euros per month), PC (9.99 euros per month) and Ultimate (14.99 euros per month) formulas is added the Core flavor, which takes the place of Xbox Live Gold keeping the same price of 6.99 euros per month (or 59.99 euros per year, the equivalent of PlayStation Plus Essential).

And it’s obviously not just a name change. As we have pointed out, Games With Gold games have been scraping the bottom of the drawer for a long time and it is easy to imagine that Xbox Live Gold members kept their subscription above all to keep access to online multiplayer on their console. Online multiplayer therefore remains on the Xbox Game Pass Core program, but Games With Gold is replaced by a catalog that will have 25 games at launch and will be updated not every month but 2 or 3 times a year.
