Xbox: Microsoft tests an AI-powered chatbot


On April 2, 2024, The Verge revealed that Microsoft is beginning testing an AI chatbot for Xbox. Internal documents from the Redmond firm consulted by the American media emphasize that “This agent can help answer your Xbox support questions”.

This new tool would be directly connected to Microsoft’s support documents regarding the Xbox network and ecosystem. In addition to answering players’ questions, he could take care of game refunds, according to The Verge.

Haiyan Zhang, general manager of gaming AI at Xbox, confirmed to the site the existence of the chatbot, internally named Xbox Support Virtual Agent. During testing, the latter takes the form of an animated character “who can query Xbox Support by voice or text”.

According to sources from The VergeMicrosoft would also like to mobilize artificial intelligence to moderate content on the Xbox platform or even help players progress in their adventure when they play.
