Xbox Remix Special Edition: Microsoft unveils an ecological controller

Microsoft is determined to expand its catalog of joysticks for gamers. The manufacturer recently unveiled Xbox Elite Series 2 red and blue, at a rather high price, but it once again offers the basic Xbox Series X|S controller with a Remix Special Edition who wants to be ecological.

As reminded MicrosoftEarth Day is approaching, but the manufacturer does not want to wait until April 22 to unveil the wireless controller Xbox Remix Special Editionmade with recycled plastic, a third of which comes directly from regranulated or regenerated materials. With this ecological manufacturing process, we have a green and brown controller, “reminiscent of the Earth” and which gives each controller Remix Special Edition a unique appearance. Microsoft details the design process and dwells on a few aesthetic points of this accessory:

Regranulation consists of recycling the elements of Xbox One controllers into a material that can be used to create new controllers, while ensuring the solidity and performance of the latter. Recycled resins are made from recycled materials such as headlight covers, water containers or CDs. By opting for these different materials and adding a rechargeable battery to the controller, Xbox is striving to use less new plastic to reduce waste production. Our goal is to support our fans in this journey to promote sustainability across all Xbox products. Consult our new page dedicated to sustainable development to find out more about our commitments and discover a collection of controllers that use less new plastic.

We took inspiration from natural landscapes and the world around us when designing the Remix Special Edition Controller. The different colors reminiscent of the Earth create a patchwork effect, the luminous tones give it a rich style, but full of serenity. The light green of the Xbox button, D-Pad and front of the controller is inspired by the lichen found in the temperate rainforests of the Pacific. Slice buttons, triggers, and grips feature a topographical pattern that references Earth’s ever-changing landscapes and retains the texture you love. The included rechargeable battery lets you play without using disposable batteries. Recharge your controller during your gaming sessions or afterwards, a charge of up to 4 hours will allow you to enjoy up to 30 hours of autonomy. At the bottom of the controller, you will find a 3.5 mm jack port that can be used to connect any compatible headset. Chat with your friends online or share your favorite recorded gaming moments with the Share button. Make your controller unique by changing its button assignments via the Xbox Accessories app on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows 10 / 11 PC. Use your controller on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, but also on PC and on your mobile devices, thanks to Bluetooth technology.
