Xi will visit Hong Kong to celebrate 25 years since the city’s handover to China


SHANGHAI/HONG KONG, June 25 (Reuters) – Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Hong Kong to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the city’s handover to China, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported on Saturday.

This will be Xi Jinping’s first trip outside mainland China since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in January 2020.

The Chinese president will also participate in the inauguration ceremony of the government of the sixth term of the special administrative region, added Xinhua.
