Thanks to the latest high-end smartphones, one can quite easily take beautiful photos. However, Xiaomi would like to go even further with its next terminal.

This time, the user will be able to transform his mobile phone into a real professional camera.

Everything for pictures

If there’s one major point where flagships have improved over the past few years, it’s in terms of photos. The camera devices of our phones can now boast of being at the cutting edge of technology, although there is still room for improvement. And it turns out that Xiaomi intends to rush into this breach via a very surprising proposal.

The Chinese manufacturer has just unveiled its Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept. The particularity of this smartphone lies in the fact that the user can attach an authentic photo lens from the German brand Leica (M series). The latter will be positioned on the back of the phone, on the extremely imposing Sony IMX989 sensor (1 inch). The goal here is quite logically to allow the user to capture shots with a “professional” look.

The design takes a hit!

The video posted by Xiaomi on Weibo has something to challenge. Indeed, one can quite logically wonder if the loss of ergonomics will not be too great once such a lens is added to the smartphone. In addition, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept seems quite bulky once the accessory is attached.

Of course, it is, as its name suggests, a “concept”. The Chinese firm could therefore review its copy before the launch. Whether in terms of weight distribution or compatible lenses, Xiaomi will absolutely have to shed light on the many gray areas that persist at present. A rather daring bet, but not without risks.
