Xiaomi decreases the intensity of the waves of the Redmi Note 9 Pro, which was excessive

The National Frequency Agency has required Xiaomi to greatly reduce the intensity of the waves emitted by the Redmi Note 9 Pro. The manufacturer complied.

If you are in possession of a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro, you must have received a very discreet smartphone update. This was not intended to provide a new feature or correct a software bug, but to reduce the intensity of the waves emitted by the phone, at the request of the National Frequency Agency (ANFR). A press release to this effect was published on July 28.

Waves that are too intense in the torso

In this case, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro was “flashed” at 4.96 W/kg (watts per kilogram). This index designates the SAR: specific absorption rate. It indicates the part of energy transported by electromagnetic waves which is absorbed by the human body. The higher this value, the greater the energy. This value must therefore be as low as possible.

The SAR has three regulatory thresholds, for the trunk, the head and the limbs. For Xiaomi, the problem was with limbs. Thanks to the update, the SAR has been reduced to 2.69 W/kg – knowing that the regulatory limit for this part of the body is 4 W/kg. In short, the intensity of the waves has practically been halved.

In principle, the owner of this phone model has nothing to do: the update is supposed to be pushed automatically as soon as the terminal is connected to a data network (mobile or Wi-Fi). If you have any doubts, check that the system version that is installed on your phone is at least MIUI 12.5.8.0 (RJZEUXM).
