Redmi Note 11 with or without 5G?

First, let’s put some order in the squad. Redmi is a daughter of Xiaomi, just like Poco. When the new Redmi Note 11 family was introduced, we complained that the Redmi Note 11 5G does not have an OLED. That’s true, but the Redmi Note is 11 With 5G a device other than the Redmi Note 11 without 5G, which is what this is about. The latest transmission standard is missing, but there is a crisp OLED. In order to enjoy both advantages, you have to reach for the Redmi Note 11 Pro.

Redmi Note 11: Beautifully matte

Redmi Note 10 vs Redmi Note 11

Glossy versus matte = Redmi Note 10 versus Redmi Note 11. Our crystal clear haptic favorite is the Redmi Note 11.

The Redmi Note 11 is 73.87 millimeters wide, 159.87 millimeters long, 8.1 millimeters thick and weighs 179 grams, making it more compact and lighter than the 5G version. The case immediately appeals with its no-frills design and the pleasantly matte surfaces of the back and frame. This minimizes fingerprints and doesn’t feel as slippery as glass. It’s a matter of taste, but in our opinion the Note 11 makes a much better impression than the sleek Note 10 and is based on the Redmi 10 (without the “Note”). The front is covered with Gorilla Glass 3. The camera arrangement on the back causes the typical “wobbly” when the smartphone is lying on the table. The mobile phone is protected against splash water according to IP53. IP53 is a rather low protection class and means that the smartphone is protected from dust and liquids, but is not really tight. So you shouldn’t submerge it. The fingerprint sensor is easily accessible in the power button on the side. Alternatively, unlock with face recognition.

Redmi Note 11 with OLED!

Redmi Note 10 vs Redmi Note 11

The Redmi Note 10 screen (left) is slightly more reflective than the Redmi Note 11.

The Redmi Note 10 was the first Redmi with high-contrast OLED and the Note 11 sticks with it. Only the 5G version has to make do with an IPS LCD. Viewing angles, contrast and color reproduction of the unchanged 6.43-inch display make a very good impression and also support this with very good results in the laboratory test. We found the picture even crisper outdoors compared to the Note 10 because the screen is less reflective. In addition, the determined brightness of up to 939 candelas per square meter is really great. The resolution is 2400×1080 pixels, there is nothing to complain about in terms of sharpness (410 ppi). The maximum screen change frequency is a brisk 90 Hertz. This makes the display of rapidly changing image content, for example when scrolling, a little smoother. The sampling rate is 180 Hertz. The circular “punchhole” for the front camera, which has a resolution of 13 megapixels, is in the top center.

50 MP camera

Redmi Note 10 vs Redmi Note 11

The Redmi Note 10 (left) has a maximum of 48 megapixels, the Redmi Note 11 has 50 megapixels.

The main camera (f/1.8) has a resolution of up to 50 megapixels (MP). There is also an ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2) with 8 MP and a shooting angle of 118 degrees, as well as a macro (f/2.4) and depth lens, each with a resolution of 2 MP. The front camera (f/2.4) has a resolution of 13 MP. Compared to the Redmi Note 10, nothing has changed in terms of the equipment with ultra wide angle, macro and depth sensor. On the photo test bench, the results were mediocre. Almost good in daylight and still sufficient in poor lighting. The selfie camera is also sufficient. So it’s enough for the occasional snap, but more expensive cell phones offer a visibly better photo quality. All in all: “satisfactory”.

Redmi Note 11: processor and pace

In the Redmi Note 11, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 in connection with an Adreno 610 graphics unit ensures speed. The eight-core processor clocks at a maximum of 2.4 gigahertz and was manufactured using the 6-nanometer process. So on paper, compared to the Note 10, a small plus for the processor (678) and a small minus for the GPU (612). A similarly inhomogeneous picture was also presented in various benchmarks that we ran. In the Geekbench 5 single-core score, the Note 10 scored 438 points after the most recent update, putting it ahead of the Note 11 with a meager 386 points. In the more important multi-core score, however, the Note 11 was able to collect 1,725 points, while the predecessor only managed 1,570. However, the Note 10 was faster in the Real Pi benchmark, which calculates the decimal places of Pi. Unfortunately, the Redmi Note 11 is not significantly faster than its predecessor and therefore not a gaming monster. Compared to other smartphones, the working speed is poor. The all-clear is given at the service. It runs smoothly in everyday life.

Redmi Note 11: features and storage

Redmi Note 10 vs Redmi Note 11

The Redmi Note 11 (above) has a matte frame, is less rounded, but still feels better in the hand than the Redmi Note 10 (below).

The Redmi Note 11 does not have 5G, then it would be a different model and would be called Redmi Note 11 5G. On board are 64 or 128 gigabytes (UFS 2.2) device memory. Depending on the model, the main memory is 4 or 6 gigabytes (LPDDR4X). There is the obligatory infrared transmitter (e.g. for remote control apps), Bluetooth 5.0, a jack (above) and stereo speakers. The operating system used is MIUI 13 based on Android 11. The smartphone swallows two SIM cards for dual SIM operation and at the same time a memory card up to 1 terabyte. A big advantage compared to the predecessor: NFC for contactless payment via Google Pay is included!

Don’t worry: the Redmi Note 11 also has a jack socket, but at the top.

Redmi Note 11: endurance miracle!

The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh, you can charge it with up to 33 watts via USB Type-C. The power pack is included in the scope of delivery. In the test, a full charge took 1:55 hours. Completely okay, but the runtime in the COMPUTER BILD mobile phone battery test was outstanding: With a runtime of 13:22 hours with uninterrupted use, the Redmi Note 11 is one of the absolute endurance runners. There is practically no inductive charging in this price range.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11: price, colors, launch of sales

The Redmi Note 11 appears in “Graphite Gray”, “Twilight Blue” and “Star Blue” and three memory variants (4/64, 4/128, 6/128 GB). Official information on prices and availability for Germany are still pending. In China, the Redmi Note 11 costs between 160 and 230 euros, depending on the memory.

Redmi Note 10 (left) and Redmi Note 11 are technically very similar, but ultimately we liked the Note 11 better.

Test conclusion: Redmi Note 11

Compared to the predecessor Redmi Note 10, the changes are manageable, but unfortunately there is no significant improvement in speed. But that’s the only real drawback. The OLED display is convincing all along the line and makes the Redmi Note 11 a tip in its price range if you can do without 5G. Photos are okay in daylight, the battery life is even excellent. On top of that, the Redmi Note 11 is the much more pleasing smartphone – a hand flatterer! With NFC, Xiaomi has erased a feature gap in the predecessor. Let’s hope that the Redmi Note 11 doesn’t fall into the same availability trap as the Redmi Note 10. Then it would be the perfect alternative to the now expensive predecessor.
