The XIII Remake disappointed fans across the board when it was released. Now the game gets a new chance from the publisher: An update is supposed to turn the shooter remake inside out – and thus save it after all.

When Shooter XIII came onto the market in 2003, it was able to convince players with its gameplay and comic-like cel-shaded graphics and blossomed into a cult game. However, the 2020 remake squandered all of the template’s potential and was one of the biggest gaming disappointments of the year. Now the time should be turned back again, because soon the XIII remake will get its own remake with a huge update.

XIII: Update should save Steam flop

The remake of XIII has been released according to an official announcement from publisher Microids revised from the ground up in the last 12 months. To that end, original developer PlayMagic has been replaced by studio Tower Five, which has made numerous changes and (hopefully) improvements to the shooter.

According to the post on the Steam page, count towards the update improved art style and AI, as well as a new HUD, sound design and online multiplayer for 2 to 13 players. The XIII remake should thus be overhauled in a way, both in terms of sound and optics and gameplay. Players who already own the shooter can look forward to the free release of the update on September 13, 2022. (Source: Steam)

Cult shooter gets another chance from publisher

Currently, the XIII Remake on Steam holds a rating of Extremely Negative. Upon release, the game had disappointed fans in pretty much every way, but in particular what the graphics, the animations, the sound and the AI concerned. The announced improvements are definitely in the right place – whether they have been implemented accordingly will be seen on September 13th.
