Yakuza 8 renames itself Like a Dragon 8 and aims for 2024

We have known for a few months now that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio was working on a sequel to the adventures of Ichiban Kasuga. And that these would become the new basis for the saga Yakuza. On the occasion of the Tokyo Game Show, the studio presented its plans for the next few years, with the official announcement of this sequel – which is now called Like a Dragon 8 to go along with the franchise’s makeover – slated for 2024.

On the other hand, the presentation was not very rich in information on the game. Two things are nevertheless certain. The crazy turn-based RPG side that suits so well Yakuza Like a Dragon is well and truly back, and the story will obviously revolve around the Ichiban gang. But the trailer does put the spotlight on two main characters, with an extreme makeover for Kiryû. Having lost a few charisma points with his new haircut, the historical hero of Yakuza will also have his own gang.

Even if the development of the title is already well advanced, it should not be expected before at least 2024. Like a Dragon 8 will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC.
