The E01 and E02 concepts come to life

It’s no surprise to see the E01 and E02 go from simple concept to production model. Yamaha had confirmed they would go into production in 2022, so it was only a matter of time before it officially presented them.

Don’t call the E02 that anymore: Yamaha has given it a new name, the NEO. This 50cc equivalent, for the first time introduced as part of the Tokyo Motor Show 2019, will be launched in Europe in the coming weeks.

This scooter accessible for people aged 14 and holders of an AM license will therefore travel at a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Yamaha has yet to reveal its full spec sheet, but it’s only a matter of time.

The E01 does not yet have an official name, but this 125cc equivalent will logically bring more power to its driver. Like its little brother, the characteristics of the vehicle have not been addressed.

On the other hand, Yamaha intends to integrate it into a fleet of free-floating in the near future, within a large European city, still unknown.

Three electric bikes

For Clément Villet, director of the motorized two-wheeler division and product development at Yamaha Motor Europe, “ in a few years, more than 50% of bicycles sold will be electric on the old continent.

A vision that therefore justifies Yamaha’s positioning on electric bikes, with no less than three models launched by the end of the year. They currently have no name or technical data sheet, but very specific roles.

The first focuses on off-road, with a frame specially developed for the occasion. The interested party also mentions high-end components, without going into details. We will know more later.

The second belongs to the gravel category, when the last, more aimed at the general public, is an urban VAE. This trio should be available in theshowroomof the brand by the end of the year.

The speedbike bet

Finally, Yamaha revealed the B01, imagined and designed in partnership with Motori Minarelli and Fantic Motor. This vehicle is a speedbike: the assistance propels you to more than 25 km/h, the legal threshold to pass to the other side of the barrier.

To drive it, you must therefore wear a helmet, be insured, attach a license plate and ride on the same lane as the cars, and not on the cycle paths. This prototype will be entitled to a production model, but no date has been announced.
