Is “Yellowstone” too brutal for you and “Virgin River” not dramatic enough? Then you should get your money’s worth with “Ransom Canyon”. The adaptation of Jodi Thomas’ novels of the same name, described on the cover as an “innocent and harmonious romance”, is coming to Netflix in 2024.

The streaming service has ordered a first season with a total of 10 episodes, with “Transformers” star Josh Duhamel and actress/model Minka Kelly set to star.

“Ransom Canyon” is about three ranching families in Texas whose lives are closely intertwined. Duhamel portrays Staten Kirkland, the single owner of the Double K Ranch. He stubbornly defends himself against all external influences, but also… against love?

Kelly plays Quinn, who returns to Ransom Canyon to find happiness – and love – after a brief career as a concert pianist in New York. We’ll find out next year whether “Ransom Canyon” is really a suitable replacement for “Yellowstone”. Then “Yellowstone” season 5.2 awaits us and, with a little luck, “Virgin River” season 6.
