Yesterday at the daily topics: Surprise guest makes Caren Miosga laugh

At yesterday’s edition of the daily topics, many viewers were certainly amazed: the show was almost over when a special surprise guest appeared in front of the camera. He wanted to announce a new record that presenter Caren Miosga had just broken.

Ulrich Wickert surprises with daily topics

The Tuesday edition of the daily topics on the ARD will certainly stay in the memory of some viewers for a little longer. Of the longtime moderator Ulrich Wickert emerged for the first time in more than 15 years to announce a special message. A record had been broken, as he personally told the viewer.

Caren Miosga, according to Wickert, now has longer than himself through the daily topics. Not quite so seriously, he referred to himself as the “eternal record holder in moderating daily topics”, who had to “take a defeat” at the hands of Miosga. But that’s not a problem at all, because Miosga is his “favourite presenter” (source: Tagesschau). She stood by and couldn’t stop laughing.

There was also praise from ARD program director Christine Strobl and ARD editor-in-chief Oliver Köhr. After Miosga replaced her predecessor Anne Will on July 16, 2007, she always had herself “competent, understandable and clear, highly professional” given. She wouldn’t lack “empathy and a special charm” either.

Miosga and Wickert: 15 years of daily issues

Both Miosga and Wickert have each hosted the show for a total of 15 years. Wickert was active from 1991 to 2006 and presented the daily topics first in alternation with Sabine Christiansen, later with Gabi Bauer and then Anne Will. Miosga, on the other hand, has been in front of the camera since 2007, and today she alternates with Ingo Zamperoni as moderator.

Miosga can’t just beat Wickert’s previous record. Just recently her contract with the ARD extended by three more years to 2025.
