Many reward their perseverance after the end of Lent with all kinds of delicacies – the yo-yo effect is already lurking! The expert has advice.

Since Maundy Thursday, everyone who has fasted can finally feast again. But beware: the lost kilos shouldn’t land on your hips right away. How can we best avoid the yo-yo effect? doctor dr. Silja Schäfer gives tips.

In an interview with the news agency spot on news, she says: “It is extremely important not to go back to old habits.” Anyone who grabbed the chocolate wrap every day before Lent should try to resist this temptation in the coming days. According to the expert, now is exactly the right time for this. “Things or dietary changes that came easily to you during Lent can be incorporated into everyday life. You can change your habits now,” says the author of the guide “Losing weight despite 1,000 excuses”.

The right diet makes the difference!

Pursuing physical goals often goes hand in hand with the right diet – even after fasting. So if you want to consciously counteract the yo-yo effect, according to the doctor, you should consume enough protein a day. “About one gram per kilogram of body weight in people with healthy kidneys,” advises Schäfer. This amount would not only ensure a healthy feeling of satiety, but also contribute to the maintenance of the muscles.
