Scan handwritten text with the Notes app on iPhone or iPad

Deployed since mid-March 2022, the iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 versions of the iPhone and iPad have introduced new features. Among them, we can find a trick hidden in the Notes application: scanning or digitizing handwritten text with an iPhone or iPad.

In a video posted on Apple’s official YouTube channel, the footage shows you how to do it with an iPhone.

So, to scan text directly into the Notes application, all you need to do is:

  1. Open the Notes app
  2. Press the camera button located in the toolbar
  3. Press “Scan text”
  4. Press “Insert when text appears in note”
