Guttenberg: Preparation for Russian attack “damned duty”

Former Defense Minister Guttenberg is extremely concerned about the situation in Ukraine and warns against the Kremlin boss. With Putin you have to expect everything, said Guttenberg. At the end of the day, he “often doesn’t give a shit about any agreements.”

Former Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg warns against accommodating Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and handing over areas in Ukraine to him. In the podcast “Ronzheimer” he says: “With Putin you have to take everything into account and we have often seen in history that at the end of the day he often doesn’t give a damn about any agreements. And that he doesn’t shy away from doing so to resort to unthinkably horrific means.”

According to Guttenberg, the only thing that helps in dealing with Russia at the moment is “the clearest possible indication: ‘One step further and something completely different will blow up in your face.'” Even if the probability of a Russian attack is five or ten percent, that is “It’s our damn duty to actually prepare for it in terms of content, but beyond the content.”

Guttenberg also fears a “tipping point”. “I have great concerns about developments in the next few months,” he says. Tiredness and exhaustion in the so-called West are noticeably increasing, while attention and the will to support are currently decreasing dramatically. The unity of the West is becoming more and more “porous”.

Guttenberg: Trump will let Kiev starve by the long arm

Guttenberg, who now works as a consultant among other things, sees the biggest problem in the USA, which is already in the middle of the election campaign. The funds withheld in the US Congress are “absolutely crucial” for Ukraine. It could be that if former President Donald Trump were re-elected to office, Kiev could and will starve on the long arm. Trump sees Zelensky as a “personal opponent.”

Guttenberg criticizes Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s refusal to deliver Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine as a “hidden hesitation” that he cannot understand. So far, Ukraine has always kept to its promises regarding arms deliveries; the country cannot be supported on such issues with the handbrake on. At the same time, Guttenberg warns against “to pamper the oh-so-wounded Russian soul again in some form.”Then of course it could well be that the ‘taste of blood’ calls for more.”
