“You underestimated”, did this strategic disagreement between Big Flo & Oli cost them an elimination?

The Voice candidates were in the running to win their ticket for the semi-finals of the TF1 show this May 11. They tried their luck during a Super Cross Battles series during which two singers from each team competed so that only eight remained. This pivotal moment offered viewers an evening rich in emotions that they will not soon forget. And we bet that’s what the coaches think too.

Indeed, the evening started strong with a little tackle from Jenifer towards Mika which greatly amused the audience. But we also witnessed a very touching sequence when Alphonse, from the Zazie team, covered Vianney’s song Daddy’s boy. A real gift for the very moved coach. After humor and tenderness, tension and disappointment arrived on set.

Big Flo & Oli don’t agree

For the last two Super Cross Battles, only four candidates remained: Manuela and Adnaé in Big Flo & Oli’s team, Maéva in Zazie’s team and Clément in Mika’s team. The hand passed to the two brothers who had to make a crucial choice and determine the last two matches of the evening.

After a few seconds of exchange between the two brothers, Oli said to Nikos: “It’s quite rare, but we don’t really agree on the strategy”, to which the elder replied “It’s not very rare either”. Oli appeared unwilling to make the final decision, explaining: “Afterwards you are the big brother so…” Finally, Big Flo decided to side with his younger brother: “Are you sure of yourself ? Let’s attack Mika with Manuela”. At that time, Nikos tried to explain the situation to the public by stating: “This is not what you wanted. That’s Oli’s choice”, but his interlocutor wanted to support his brother: “It’s our choice”.

Oli very moved

This is how Manuela found herself facing Clément in The Voice. The 16-year-old young woman performed Secret de Louane before his opponent launches into a resumption of With or Without You by U2. As soon as Mika’s foal’s song ended, there was a standing ovation. If the coaches were impressed by the two performances, Jenifer and the public preferred Clément who won with 57.5% of the votes. A sentence that literally dejected Oli: “There we lose big”. To which his brother replied: “Yeah, you underestimated” while going to join Manuela on stage.

“You have nothing to reproach yourself for. You are 16 years old. Honestly, it’s horrible to tell you this, but you have time. No regrets. You did the max. You can be proud”, declared Big Flo to the young woman. Oli seemed completely shocked by the situation and seemed very sad to see their candidate eliminated. So much so that for the last Super Cross Battle, Nikos turned to Oli to showcase his team’s latest talent. To which the artist replied: “I’m a little stunned so I leave the hand to my big brother”. A real blow for the people of Toulouse.
