The download feature, eagerly awaited by users of the PC version of YouTube Music, could soon become a reality. A recent clue suggests that the platform is considering extending this option, until now exclusive to the paid version of the mobile application.
Last year, Youtube has enriched its offer Premium on web browser, introducing a higher video quality option, 1080p Premium HD Bitrate Optimized, initially tested and deployed on mobile. This improvement, reserved for subscribers of the paid service, marked a further step towards enhanced viewing of clearer and extra sharp videos. At the same time, the app innovated by adding a TikTok-inspired feature, called Samples, allowing users to discover new music through a stream of short vertical videos.
In this line of updatesthe potential introduction of a download function on YouTube Music for computer, reserved for Premium subscribers, is a logical continuation. This feature, already appreciated on the mobile application, is impatiently awaited by the community users on PCwanting to benefit from greater flexibility in their use of musical content, particularly for offline listening.

Until now, YouTube Music on PC stood out mainly for streaming listening, with no download option for one. offline listening, unlike certain competing applications or its premium version on smartphones. This limitation may soon be lifted, giving desktop users the much appreciated flexibility on mobile. Indeed, the possibility of download music for offline listening represents a significant advantage, particularly in situations where the internet connection is unstable, limited or non-existent such as in certain public transport or in the plane.

The discovery of a tab “Downloads” on the web version of YouTube Music by a user on Reddit has sparked a lot of interest within the online community. Located between the Library and Import tabs, this space could well be used to group downloaded songs and podcasts. While the existence of this new tab is an encouraging sign, details are still vague, particularly regarding the download settings available. Caution remains in order in the face of this initial information, while waiting an official confirmation of the platform.
