You will soon be able to uninstall an Android application… even without a smartphone

Google is reportedly working on an option to uninstall an app remotely, without needing the device.

For people who spend more time on their computer than on their smartphone, the Google Play Store offers a very practical feature. It will indeed allow you to install an Android application on the device you want, simply from a web browser. However, if this functionality is offered for downloading and installing applications, it does not currently allow you to uninstall an application remotely.

However, this could change very soon as reported by the site Android Authority. The specialized site relays a post published by the blog The Spandroidgenerally up to date with Google application developments.

The article thus indicates that a recent update of the Google Play services update system, in version 38.8, will allow, from the Google Play Store, to uninstall an application present on your smartphone:

Just like you can install apps on your connected devices like another Android smartphone, Wear OS watch, Android Auto or on PC, you will be able to uninstall them remotely too, but it’s not as simple as an installation.

This functionality should therefore be present in the “manage applications and devices” section of the Google Play Store, then in the “manage” tab. The user can then select the device whose installed applications they wish to display, and then can manually uninstall each application.

A function not yet made official by Google

Currently, this functionality is not yet available to all users. Above all, to activate it, you will need to activate certain options in the Play Store code. No announcement has yet been made by Google and it is unknown when it will be publicly deployed to all users.

However, the ability to uninstall applications from another device can be very practical for managing everything from a computer or main smartphone, without having to juggle between your different devices.
