At the end of the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, we learn that the Progenitors, as Kovich calls them, are an extinct humanoid species that spread their DNA throughout the universe trillions of millennia ago. They did this using life-creating technology, which explains why so many different humanoid aliens exist in the Star Trek universe. All come from the same DNA.
Humanoid is a term used when beings have certain external characteristics that are similar to humans. All aliens that walk upright, have hands, feet, heads, noses, eyes, and mouths are humanoid.
Already in the “Star Trek: The Next Century” episode “The Missing Fragment,” various parties set out to find the secret behind the progenitor technology. Now there should actually be clues to find them.
These clues help Discovery piece together a spatial map that ultimately leads to its destination. So before you start looking for the actual goal, a few side quests have to be carried out to complete the map.
Who else is looking for this technology?
The USS Discovery is racing to complete the map with Moll (Eve Harlow) and L’ak (Elias Toufexis). However, the two scoundrels were hired by an unknown party.
In a political round, President T’Rina (Tara Rosling) of Ni’var hinted that the Tholians or the Breen could also be after the technology. In any case, there seems to be political tensions with other parties.
