You’ll soon be able to listen to radio on Waze, but not just any station

Waze announces the signature of a partnership with RTL, RTL2 and Fun Radio, in order to allow users to listen to these stations directly from the application.

If you are used to driving, especially to get to work, you most likely like to listen to music or the radio to pass the time in traffic jams or on the road. And you are far from alone. Indeed, according to a study conducted by Médiamétrie in 2019, more than 42 million people listen to it every day, while 30.5% of them do so by car.

While most listeners simply want to listen to music, a large proportion prefer to tune in to the news of the day. Finally, another motorist may have a preference for the weather and other traffic information. Be that as it may, the radio is essential to the vast majority of drivers on a daily basis, in the same way as guidance and speed camera detection applications.

An unprecedented partnership for the M6 group

So what if it was possible to listen to your favorite radio station without having to take your eyes off the GPS navigation? Well it is now possible. Indeed, the community application Waze has just formalized the signature of a partnership with the radio division of the M6 group, in order to offer a new functionality to its 16 million monthly users in France.

As announced in the press release published by the firm acquired by Google in 2013, users can now listen to RTL, RTL2 and Fun Radio directly on the application. A function already offered by NRJ, Deezer, Spotify or even Amazon Music and YouTube Music. With this update, it is therefore no longer necessary to leave the application to be able to listen to your favorite radio station.

Easy to use

To be able to use this new feature, nothing could be simpler. Indeed, you just have to open Waze, then click on the icon representing a musical note, at the top right of the screen. Then press “settings” and swipe down to scroll through the list of compatible applications. They are 18 in number at present.

Choose the ones that interest you and press “install”. Once this is done, the radios will be displayed directly in the application, and you will only have to select the one you want to listen to for it to launch.
