Young Lenten Cloths – Thousands of crosses form the Way of the Cross in 13 churches

“Before Lenten cloths were painted with motifs, there were embroidered ones,” says Roland Stadler, head of the tourism pastoral care department in the Diocese of Gurk, who often works intensively with hunger cloths with colleagues. From the 1980s onwards, cross stitching emerged in Carinthia for the cloths that cover altars during Lent.
