Your cat thinks you are a weird furry cat yourself

If they know we’re bigger than them, cats don’t think we’re just another living species. An expert explains how they perceive us.

Taller, clumsier, hairless, but one of their own anyway. The good news is that your cat thinks you’re both of the same species. According to an expert, you are just a very strange cousin that he likes anyway.

In an interview with National GeographicJohn Bradshaw, author of several scientific books on cats, believes that “We haven’t discovered anything yet to prove that the cat’s brain puts humans in another category.” He adds : “Of course, they know we’re taller than them, but their behavior is the same as they do with other cats.”

“Raising your tail in the air, rubbing your legs, sitting next to you and licking you are things cats do with each other in theory.” Your 4-legged companion therefore treats you as he would with his own species.

Congratulations you are mom

The expert goes even further by explaining that the cat can take you for its mother. “When the animal uses its paws and claws to knead a part of the body or the surface of the bed, it is a behavior normally reserved for its mother’s womb, a reaction supposed to stimulate the flow of milk.”

“Cats are smart enough to know that you are not going to produce so little milk. But they keep making this movement to show that they see you as a family cat rather than another animal. species” John Bradshaw continues.

Even though we don’t act like cats, our favorite feline sees us as one. “They think we are extremely clumsy. Very few cats trip because they are agile. Unlike us who spend our time avoiding awkwardly stepping on them.”

Cats therefore see us as big, clumsy, hairless cats with whom they live together. According to the expert, they don’t see us as less intelligent or inferior, but just as a member of their feline family.
