“Your press release makes me nauseous”: the cash response of the mother of the journalist killed in Ukraine to the pro-Russians

The mother of Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff, the BFMTV journalist who was killed in Ukraine, spoke in a statement on Tuesday, May 31. It was important for her to restore certain truths.

This is sad news that was announced by BFMTV this Monday, May 30. While in Ukraine covering the war, Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff was killed by a shell while reporting. Aged only 32, he had worked for the chain for six years. Subsequently, the Russian news agency Tass shared a message assuring that he was not a journalist but a “mercenary engaged in the delivery of weapons to the armed forces“. Words that did not go unnoticed and to which the journalist’s mother wished to respond on Tuesday, May 31. “For the attention of the Tass agency and the officials of the RPL Hello. I am the mother of the young journalist whom you killed yesterday. Your post makes me sick“, she first wrote before adding: “Of course you are cowardly trying to clear yourself of customs, but know that you will never succeed in sullying his memory“. Determined not to let it go, she then indicates that her son was a very professional person. “Everyone here knows his professional and personal commitment to democracy, human respect and above all free, impartial and honest information, all notions that seem far removed from what drives you“.

In her press release, the mother of Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff has every intention of restoring the truth about her son. Despite the pain of this loss, she claims to have “thoughts for all Ukrainian mothers who mourn their children, all the Ukrainian children who mourn their parents and all the Russian mothers who saw their youngsters leave too soon as soldiers, who will not see them again and who wonder why“, she continued. For her part, she indicates that “at least, despite the pain, I know why my son died”. What matters most to her? That “those truly responsible for this criminal nonsense will one day be held to account“, she concluded. As soon as the death of the journalist was announced, Marc-Olivier Fogiel immediately reacted and he notably mentioned the reaction of the mother of Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff. “His first reaction was to ask how Maxime, who was with his son, was doing. She was in tears, but that says a lot about her commitment. She knew her son’s trade“, he asserted. Shocking words.

Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff: was he accompanied at the time of the events?
