OnePlus unveils new technology designed to change the way you use your touchscreen in the rain.

And the first smartphone to officially benefit from it will be the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro.

OnePlus unveils Rain Water Touch: the technology of the future for our smartphones?

Using your touch screen in the rain (or simply when the screen is a little wet) is clearly not the most practical. If, in recent years, smartphones have gained considerably in sealing, it is clear that they do not remain usable in all circumstances. Perhaps you have already tried to perform some manipulations on the screen of your device when it is wet, in vain…

To overcome this problem, OnePlus has a solution: Rain Water Touch. This new technology, developed internally by the Chinese manufacturer, should be housed inside future OnePlus smartphones. And the good news is that it shouldn’t just be for high-end models.

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro VS iPhone 14 Pro: which is more water resistant?

In a short video shared on the YouTube channel Sparrows News, but originally published on the Weibo platform, OnePlus wanted to demonstrate the extent of the capabilities of its Rain Water Touch technology. To do this, she did not hesitate to perform some tests on an iPhone 14 Pro, in order to compare the responsiveness of the Apple screen when it is sprayed with water against that of the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro. And the least we can say is that the result is impressive. Rather judge for yourselves.

As you can see in the video above, OnePlus’ smartphone doesn’t seem to have any difficulty performing various tasks when wet (answering calls, viewing photos, etc.) while the iPhone 14 Pro struggles to unlock his screen. Rain Water Touch has been designed to detect the movements of your fingers even when they are wet. This was notably made possible thanks to the custom chipset powering the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro (Snpadragon 8 Gen 2) as well as the help of new algorithms for the touch screen.

This technology will take its first steps with the release of the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro, which is expected for the end of August on Chinese territory. However, there is no doubt that it will also be implemented in the manufacturer’s high-end smartphones. And to tell you the truth, we can’t wait to see it at work.
