YouTube: guess how many minutes you spend on average each day on the platform?

This week, YouTube revealed some interesting figures on the habits of French people on the platform, and the impact of the latter. And undeniably, its power continues to grow.

Taking advantage of the YouTube Festival 2023, which took place a few days ago in Paris, Google’s video platform delivered the results of its annual impact study in France. In particular, we learn how much time each French person spends on average on YouTube: 37 minutes exactly, according to ComScore. In France, the service remains unbeatable in the eyes of users.

YouTube, still the favorite service of French users

There is TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and the others. But despite the competition, Google’s social video platform, YouTube, continues to be a hit in France. It now has 41.4 million followers (one million more than last year) and remains the public’s number one destination in the past.

Today, you will undoubtedly recognize consuming YouTube on all screens: mobile, computer, connected TV and tablet. Among 25-49 year olds, we are even close to perfect, with 94% of fans of the platform.

In reference to what we said a little above, YouTube remains the number one destination for young people on the Internet. The service is number 1 among 18-34 year olds, of whom nearly 12 million use it each month.

A platform that continues to grow, generating a lot of money

YouTube, which continues to expand in functionality, is also a formidable cash machine. Over the year 2022, the platform contributed 850 million euros to France’s GDP, thanks to an active community of creators and advertisers who exploit the vein. A nice little jackpot, isn’t it?

The economic impact is, we can say, quite impressive. Today, the activity generated by the service is such that it supports the equivalent of 21,000 full-time jobs in France.

YouTube’s growth spurt is obviously not over. Today, no less than 600 French channels have exceeded one million subscribers. More than 6,000 of them have reached the milestone of 100,000 followers.
