The two members of the YouTube duo Vilebrequin have just been fined 3,000 euros each, for carrying weapons and using them without legitimate reason, in a video viewed several million times.

Known for their unconditional love of cars and now at the helm of the famous show Top Gear France, Youtubers Sylvain Lévy and Pierre Chabrier, aka Vilebrequin, were convicted on Monday December 18 by the courts after using pistols and rifles in one of their videos. The one in question, posted online on December 22, 2022, has been viewed more than three million times on YouTube. The two friends were also conspicuous by their absence in court.

The Vilebrequin duo play with guns, and end up condemned

The duo of YouTubers Vilebrequin, with 2.5 million subscribers, was sentenced to a fine of 3,000 euros each by the criminal court of Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes), Monday December 18, 2023. The two accomplices were tried for “ carrying weapons without legitimate reason » and risked up to 7 years in prison and a fine of 100,000 euros.

The sanctions imposed also include a ban on carrying a weapon for one year. The public prosecutor demanded a six-month suspended detention sentence, a fine of 500 euros and a ban on carrying weapons for three years.

Suffice it to say that Pierre Chabrier (29 years old) and Sylvain Lévy (30 years old) are doing rather well, especially since they were not present in court. The Youtubers, through their lawyer, justified their absence by the fear that their notoriety would harm the session. Their defender supported their decision, adding that they had already been intercepted several times last time, over a very short distance.

The duo split on YouTube

Because yes, the duo had already appeared on September 11, 2023, for the same case incidentally. The hearing was then postponed, despite the presence of their accomplice Maxime who was fined 2,000 euros, 150 euros fine and confiscation of the weapons used during filming. .

Active since 2017, YouTubers are known for their unusual automobile-related videos. They nevertheless ended, a pure coincidence according to them, their adventure on the Google video platform, less than two weeks ago. Despite the shutdown of the Vilebrequin channel, the duo will remain united to host the show Top Gear on RMC Découverte and Prime Video in early 2024.

The videographers also each announced their appearance on Twitch. Sylvain Lévy should continue his “solo” career on YouTube.
