/ Beauty / Make-up / Love Without Abusing: Yves Saint Laurent Beauté is committed against domestic violence

It is through a partnership with the association "En avant tout (s)" that the brand is developing and launching this new intervention and awareness program called "Aimer Sans Abuser".

Did you know that – according to a WHO study carried out in 2018 – one in three women is, or will be, a victim of violence in her lifetime? That very few of them end up getting justice? That more than 600 million women worldwide live in a country where violence inflicted by their partner is not considered a crime, as revealed by United Nations ? Worst ! That in France, even today and according to the Ministry of the Interior, a woman dies every three days under the blows of her partner?
Domestic violence – which can be physical, sexual, psychological, as well as economic – is an extremely serious phenomenon that has, again this year, worsened during the period of lockdown linked to COVID-19. It is not difficult to imagine that during these sad months, all those victims of violence within their own homes – supposed to be a refuge – saw their walls turn into a prison. Moreover, the figures are alarming: in France, during this period, reports have increased by 32% – according to the State Secretariat responsible for equality between women and men and the fight against discrimination – and this, without counting all the victims who continue to remain silent … The independence, freedom and security of many have been threatened more than ever and – in the face of this worrying observation and in view of the scale of the need – the mobilization of all is more than necessary.

Yves Saint Laurent Beauté takes up this cause, denounces and gets involved, especially with young women – aged between 16 and 25 – who are particularly vulnerable and under-represented. The goal of the brand? Changing attitudes, not only through financial support, but also by highlighting this problem and the work of committed grassroots associations that are trying to resolve it. This is why YSL Beauté has chosen to join forces with those of En avant tout (s), an association that has been active since 2013 in favor of equality between women and men, and against gender-based and anti-LGBTQIA + violence. In recent days on the networks, we have therefore seen many strong messages circulating and it seems that this is not going to end anytime soon.

Here are the four missions that YSL Beauté and En avant tout (s) have agreed to take up together:

  • Open a chat emergency services in a sustainable manner that will offer psychological support to victims as well as resources and facilitate access to specialized services.
  • Raise awareness among the general public and young people through training, seminars, interventions in schools, colleges, high schools, universities, or participation in certain events and festivals …
  • Raise awareness internally among YSL Beauté teams through training seminars.
  • Give even more visibility to the cause by dedicating 5% of YSL Beauté's advertising space (outdoor displays).

So here is a concise summary of what YSL Beauté and En avant tout (s) intend to achieve in France, but know that on an international scale too, the brand intends to make a difference. With its program Abuse Is Not Love, YSL Beauty wants to fight against violence within the couple beyond borders and even explains that it hopes to raise awareness to two million people by 2030.
At aufeminin, of course, we can only support and encourage this kind of initiative that society so badly needs!
