Improbable things are happening right now, but this one, we have to admit, we didn’t see it coming. Following the industrial disaster represented by Balan Wonderworld, Yuji Naka, who is also known to have been the co-creator of Sonic, had embarked on a legal battle with Square Enix in order to prove that the fiasco of his previous game was not caused by him, but by the interference of the editor. Today, we learn that Yuji Naka has just been arrested because he allegedly used sensitive information from Square Enix to enrich himself.
A story of big money
According to the first elements of the investigation available to us, Yuji Naka was reportedly arrested following acts that took place in 2020, while still working for Square Enix. During his collaboration with the publisher, he would have learned that the latter was collaborating with the Aiming studio to develop the mobile game Dragon Quest Tact.
He then allegedly bought 10,000 shares in Aiming for around 2.8 million yen. (just over €19,000), and this before the game is announcedas he thought those shares would rise after the announcement. A maneuver which therefore represents a fraud. Two other former Square Enix employees were arrested for the same reason in the process.
We are now awaiting the consequences of this affair, which are most astonishing, it must be admitted.
