A 62-year-old man opened fire without causing a victim on Tuesday in the sensitive district of Val Fourré in Mantes-la-Jolie, in Yvelines, before committing suicide, police said on Wednesday. Several videos circulating on social networks show the man, equipped with a rifle and a handgun, shooting in the air while walking in the city before turning the weapon against him.

Asked, the floor of Versailles did not respond immediately. “A huge thank you to the national police, the municipal police and the firefighters who were very responsive. Fortunately, the man did not make any victims”, reacted on Twitter the mayor of Mantes-la-Jolie, Raphaël Cognet this Tuesday. According to newspaper information The Parisian, the man “would have shown suicidal tendencies”. Several letters stating his intention to end his life were found at his home.
