In the trailer for “The Iron Claw” Zac Efron is not only packed with muscles, but also full of feelings. The wrestling drama doesn’t just seem to be for those familiar with the Von Erich brothers.

For a long time, Zac Efron demonized his role in the “High School Musical” series and tried to get away from his previous image in terms of acting. With the film “The Iron Claw” he could finally succeed. He plays the main role in the wrestling drama about the well-known Von Erich brothers. As Kevin Von Erich, he gets into the ring with muscles and has to juggle family life and career outside of it.
The trailer shows the lives of the four brothers, who are drilled daily by their father Fritz to be the best in their sport. Kevin, who wants to build a life with his wife and child, doubts whether the methods are beneficial in the long term. A tragic family accident proves him right.
The other brothers are portrayed by Jeremy Allen White (“The Bear”), Harris Dickinson (“The King’s Man”) and Stanley Simons. Holt McCallany (“Mindhunter”) plays the tyrannical father. The cast is certainly impressive and also impresses in the trailer, which is over two minutes long.
Not only wrestling fans who are familiar with the story of the Von Erich brothers will enjoy the film, but also fans of independent films. The film from Studio A24 will be released in US cinemas on December 22, 2023. There is currently no German start date.
