It’s a real family soap opera going on at the Windsors. As the year 2023 draws to a close, the time has come to take stock, and we can say that this year has been eventful for Kate Middleton and Prince William. But despite the challenges, they were able to face it with dignity, keeping your head held high and a smile on your face. For this, they were able to count on the unconditional support of Zara and Mike Tindall, the daughter and son-in-law of Princess Royal Anne. In an interview given at the Daily Expressroyal expert Judi James analyzed how William’s cousin and her husband were a comforting presence for the princely couple: “Zara and Mike seem to have played the role of emotional support for William and Kate, offering a lighter, more irreverent relationship that helped them cope with relentless criticism, particularly from the United States.”
The expert particularly highlighted Mike’s significant role with Williamreturning in particular to the multiple gestures of affection in public exchanged between the two men: “Mike excels at the art of the hug, and some of the hugs we’ve seen between the two men are a testament toa deep and respectful relationship.” Judi James also highlighted the growing importance of the former sportsman in the lives of the three children of the princely family : “The way Mike interacted with George on Christmas Day showed that he has become a source of amusement and affection in the life of the heir.”

Harry, sidelined again
Across the Atlantic, it is unlikely that Harry will look very favorably on this relationship, he who was formerly very close to the Tindalls. Judi James analyzes the situation by saying: “Harry sees his brother building a brotherly relationship with the alpha of the family. At the same time, he sees the one he considers an uncleprove his loyalty to William.” This is a hard blow for Harry, who continues to pay, even today, the consequences of his decision to leave the royal family and settle in the United States.
The royal expert also reports that observing this change in attitude, Harry tried to chat with his cousin Zara during the Queen’s platinum jubilee weekend. However, Mike stood aside, “in what looked like an act of ignorance“. According to Judi James, the royal march to church on Christmas Day sealed the deal: “When Zara and Mike’s daughter took Louis’ hand on the way to church, this seemed to be a formal announcement of what we had already observed, viz. the joyful mix of William and Kate’s families with those of Zara and Mike.“
