ZDF has decided on new personal details: Among other things, Bettina Schausten has been promoted – she will take over as editor-in-chief from October.

New appointment carousel at ZDF: As the public broadcaster announced, the ZDF editor-in-chief will take over Bettina Schausten (57) on October 1st. The previous deputy editor-in-chief, also known as the presenter in the “heute-journal”, follows Peter Frey (64). Her deputy will be Anne Gellinek (60), who will also head the main editorial office for current affairs.

These are not the only personal details that have been decided. On May 1st, 2022, Dr. Nadine Bilke (46) new ZDF program director. Deputy program director is Frank Zervos, head of the main editorial office for TV film/Series I.

Balanced gender ratio

With the new directors Nadine Bilke and Bettina Schausten, three women and three men will be at the helm of ZDF from October. The ZDF board of directors thus followed the suggestions of director Dr. Norbert Himmler (51). He speaks of a “strong team for a strong ZDF” and promises: “Together we will advance the digital transformation of ZDF.”

Bilke was previously at the head of the broadcaster ZDFneo. Schausten managed the “ZDF morning magazine” and the capital city studio.
