The highly anticipated Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will supposedly be released in 2023 but a year before, the dubbing work has already begun. Although our dear Link is not very talkative in the games of the license, the other characters need to express themselves and in order to bring them to life in all languages, full dubbing is much needed.
With all this, an Italian voice actor by the name of Pietro Ubaldirecently leaked during an interview for Lega Hyrule a detail that could reveal a lot about the plot of the next game from the Zelda license.

Pietro Ubaldi is a recognized voice actor in the world of gaming as being the Italian voice of Daruk, the champion of the Goron tribe in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In the first game of the license, we learn that Daruk is a longtime friend of Link and that he appears in the form of a spirit, because unfortunately, he is (more or less) deceased.
During this famous interview, the voice actor therefore revealed that he was going to take the role of Daruk but also that of one of his ancestors. Unfortunately, or because of a confidentiality clause, Ubaldi said he did not remember the name of this ancestor, but that he was “like Daruk, but more serious”.
However, this information is potentially very revealing of the plot of the second installment of the license. It would then be a question, according to many theories that emerged following this interview, of time travel.
Daruk back from beyond?
Emanuele, the Lega Hyrule interviewer rightly notes that Daruk’s presence in Breath of the Wild 2 is quite surprising. Although in previous games it was quite common to be able to chat with this friendly character, his spirit passed into the afterlife at the end of the first opus of the license. So it’s pretty amazing to hear that the Goron Champion will be back when his spirit was gone for good…or so we thought.
However, it is possible that Daruk appears in visions and/or flashbacks of Link, because he has been a precious ally for our protagonist. In previous games of the Nintendo license, he had already appeared many times in Link’s memories.
The ancestor who revives theories
It is indeed the mention of this famous ancestor that intrigued the community. Although we have no precise information about this mysterious character, nor how many years separate him from Daruk, Pietro Ubaldi nevertheless specified thatit wasn’t about Daruniafeatured in Ocarina of Time.
Daruk’s other known ancestor is a warrior who fought against Ganon Scourge 10,000 years ago. Could it be the ancestor in question?
The mention of this distant ancestor therefore supported the theory that time travel would be part of the plot of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. In addition, the series producer Eiji Aonuma stated that part of the game would take place in the skies of Hyrule. An atmosphere that is reminiscent of Skyward Sword which had introduced the notion of temporality to the license.
Another argument, the brief trailer that the players had been able to admire features a Link with long hair and clothes that look quite dated. Could it be possible that we have to do with a Link from another era?
While there is speculation, it is not impossible that Nintendo will make time travel an integral part of the second installment of Breath of the Wild. Zelda license games quite commonly include stories on different timelines (or 100-year slumbers) and we may see, in Breath of the Wild 2, our dear Link traveling through time. Who knows ?
