Zelenskyy: “Give us these weapons”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has once again made an urgent appeal to Germany to supply his country with battle tanks. “Give Us These Guns”Zelenskyj said in an interview with “Bild TV” on Wednesday. “Today, for us, main battle tanks mean that more lives can be saved”, stressed the President. Selenskyj did not accept the German government’s argument that it did not want to act alone. “You are an independent state. If you don’t want to give us those guns, then no offense, you have your say. But don’t say: First USA, then Poland and so on.”
The Bundestag is also debating support for Ukraine with heavy weapons on Thursday afternoon. The Union faction has submitted an application for this. Among other things, the federal government is asked there to immediately “grant approval for the export of battle tanks, armored personnel carriers and armored personnel carriers from industrial stocks to Ukraine”.
So far, no NATO country has delivered western-style main battle tanks. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) always emphasizes that on this issue no German solo effort will give.

Following Russian threats to use nuclear weapons, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned against allowing Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin to blackmail him. Zelenskyi told Bild TV on Wednesday: “Tomorrow Putin can say: We want to have part of Poland in addition to Ukraine, otherwise we will use nuclear weapons. We cannot make these compromises.” He neither believes that Putin will use nuclear weapons nor that the world will allow them to be used.

Selenskyj justified the partial mobilization of 300,000 reservists on “Bild TV” by saying that that Putin “simply walks away” from his troops in Ukraine. That’s why he needs “a multi-million dollar army”. The Kremlin chief wants to “drown Ukraine in blood, including the blood of his own soldiers,” said the Ukrainian president. Zelenskyi also reiterated that Ukraine will continue its offensive to recapture occupied territories: “I am sure we will liberate our territory.”

Selenskyj also reported on “Bild TV” about the phone calls with Scholz. “I was often very direct on the phone because I didn’t understand certain steps,” said the President. “There were situations where the walls shook,” he added.
