ZEvent 2022: Discover the colossal sum raised just with the sale of T-shirts!

For this 2022 edition, the ZEvent did not escape controversy – the most important being the initial choice of the beneficiary association GoodPlanet. Faced with the outcry, ZeratoR then took a radical decision, leave the choice to Internet users themselves from a list, in order to determine which associations would be defended by the event. After three days of voting, it was finally Sea Shepherd France, the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO), WWF France, Time for the Planet and The SeaCleaners who had been selected.

Despite this change, even if the controversies have not entirely died out, they have remained alive – in particular because of the absence of several big names. Many then argued that this 2022 edition was going to be an interstellar flop and that the kitty would skate all weekend… and we can say that they got it wrong. Not content with surpassing the 10 million euro mark raised, this year’s ZEvent broke the record set in 2021. Internet users responded to the call and donations poured in, while dedicated t-shirts sold like hot cakes.

Sales…records

This year, total donations amounted to €10,182,126 (a little over €120,000 than the previous edition). A figure to be distributed on the jackpots of the various streamers but also on the sales of the shop, in which you could of course obtain t-shirts but also plates of the ZEvent Place but also numbered Trophies ZEvent 2022. For the most curious and curious among you, these plates are quite special since they are only 3,000 in number (for this edition) and are all numbered (from 1 to 3000), for a price of 175 euros the unit. Suffice to say that you have so little stock, they very quickly disappeared from the shop.

On the other hand, to get you a t-shirt (at the price of 26 euros +5 euros for postage), the case was simpler since they could not be out of stock since they are made on demand. (although sometimes the site was saturated with requests).

Finally 184,000 t-shirts were sold, bringing the store’s revenue to 2.7 million euros (counting plate sales). As a reminder, in 2021, 136,000 t-shirts had been sold and the store’s revenue amounted to 2,605,280 euros.

What’s next?

ZeratoR was very clear on this point, this year’s ZEvent was the last with this format. It is therefore difficult to know what to expect next year, especially since the person concerned has not communicated on the subject. Presumably he would like to return to his debut in 2016 when the event was still called Avengers Project. At the time, in just 34 hours of live, the marathon had raised the sum of 170,000 euros for the Save the Children association.

The theories also go towards a larger event, a kind of festival, during which streamers would be live IRL, or even a weekly format, which would last a week but would be broadcast at times less tiring for streamers.

So a more intimate or conversely even more impressive event, we will have to wait until next year to find out what the ZEvent cru 2023 has in store for us.
