Zoom extends its platform to the single digital workplace


Since the pandemic, Zoom has become an essential part of the daily work life of many employees. With a new acquisition, Zoom is expanding its services beyond video conferencing and aims to transform itself into a digital workplace.

On Friday, Zoom announced the acquisition of Workvivo, an employee engagement and communications platform founded in 2017 and used by numerous brands, including Lululemon, Ryanair and Liberty Mutual.

Workvivo is an app that functions as a hub that employees can use for workplace engagement and communication tools, such as polls, surveys, pep messages, email digests , community groups, org charts, shared calendars, and more.

A new way to engage in the hybrid working model

Zoom says a primary goal of the acquisition is to provide customers with a new way to engage with the hybrid working model and help maintain the company’s culture.

“Employee engagement and maintaining company culture through connection are no longer nice things to have — they’re imperative for success in today’s business environment,” Zoom said. in the press release.

Once the transaction closes, which is expected to occur in the first quarter of fiscal 2024, Zoom plans to integrate Workvivo’s capabilities into its platform. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
