The Zurich Children’s Hospital and the Wetzikon Hospital are in financial difficulties.
The Zurich Health Directorate has therefore decided to grant the children’s hospital a million-dollar loan and subsidies.
The Wetzikon Hospital, on the other hand, comes away empty-handed.
The canton’s existing loan for the Kispi will be increased by 100 million to 250 million francs, as the government council announced on Thursday. In addition, the government council has guaranteed Kispi a maximum subsidy of 35 million for the current year.
However, an independent investigation should examine the current imbalance at Kispi and also clarify whether the hospital – a foundation – still has the right structure. It is already clear that the expensive new building is one of the main reasons for the financial hole.
However, there is a no vote for the Wetzikon Hospital, which applied to the canton for a loan or a guarantee worth 180 million francs. The government council concluded that Wetzikon Hospital is not considered “indispensable”.
