10 years after the debut of Clash of Clans, Supercell is still rolling in gold


With revenue of $1.89 billion (up 45%) and pre-tax profit of 734 million euros (up 80%), Supercell had a great 2021, not so far off. of the record financial year of 2015 which saw the studio post a pre-tax profit of 848 million euros. All while remaining on a course of action which consists in maintaining a relatively small number of games rather than multiplying the outings.

To date, Supercell has only released five titles: Hay Day, Clash of clans, Boom Beach, Clash Royale and Brawl Stars. These games have been downloaded over 5 billion times, have 250 million monthly active players and have each exceeded at least $1 billion in revenue. In a post published on the studio’s website, CEO Ilkka Paananen recalls that the combined revenue of Clash of clans and Clash Royale even surpassed the $10 billion mark.

Supercell is currently working on three games that are still in beta and have only launched in a small number of markets: ClashQuest, Clash Mini and Everdale. The studio has never had so many games on the verge of release since 2012, when it launched. Clash of clans and Hay Day. And that’s not counting the new ambitions of Supercell in the field of consoles and PCs. Ambitions that will go through the creation of a new studio based in North America.
