109 helpers in action – large-scale exercise on swerving worked perfectly

When a person is stuck in a cave on the mountain and others have to be rescued from steep terrain, many rescuers have a lot to do. This was shown by the large district exercise that took place at Schlenken.

On the Schlenken in Tennengau, several injured people had to be rescued from steep and difficult-to-access terrain on Saturday. Fortunately, this was only an assumption for the national district exercise of the emergency services in Tennengau. The first hours are the most decisive “The first hours of a combined large-scale operation are decisive for the further course.” This was emphasized by the district manager of the mountain rescue service in Tennengau, Werner Quehenberger and his Deputy, Wolfgang Gadermayer, himself also a member of the Salzburg Cave Rescue Service. The most challenging part was smoothly coordinating the interaction and communication between the emergency organizations involved. During the exercise, the men and women of the rescue organizations managed to find and rescue the people they were looking for in the steep terrain and also the person trapped in a cave in an exemplary manner. A total of 109 people took part in the large-scale exercise, including employees of the army, the police, the fire brigade and the civil protection officer of the Hallein district authority.
