1,400 pensions were not upgraded due to a computer bug

According to Capital, more than a thousand withdrawals did not benefit from the increase in the minimum contribution (Mico). A computer error penalized these withdrawals and must be corrected manually by… summer 2024.

A computer error deprived more than a thousand withdrawals, affecting pensions from abroad, of the minimum contributory amount (Mico) to which they could claim, revealed Capital at the end of last week. Clearly, these withdrawals did not benefit from the increase in the pension of 25 euros compared to its level before the pension reform and its increased version, which climbs up to 100 euros. They received a letter telling them that they would no longer be able to receive the Mico and even that they had to repay the overpayment, sometimes amounting to several thousand euros, says a union representative. Capital.

According to information from the economic site, the IT update of the pension reform has not been carried out for these 1,400 withdrawals. Mico has indeed been suspended for a thousand or so policyholders from whom we were awaiting information on their foreign pension amount, confirms the National Old Age Insurance Fund (Cnav) Capital. And so as the Mico was automatically suspended, it was felt that previously it had been wrongly paid and that it had to be recovered. But we have since corrected the situation, reassures the Fund.

The update had to be done by hand, which lengthened the duration of the procedure and required more work from the teams. People who are eligible for this pension increase will be part of the second wave of increases which must take place by the summer of 2024, promises Retirement Insurance.
