Natasha St-Pier at Eurovision: why her intervention came to nothing

This Saturday, May 11, the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 took place in Malmö, Sweden. The 9,000 spectators, and countless television viewers around the world, witnessed the victory of the Swiss candidate, the 24-year-old artist Nemo, who convinced with his title The Code and its dynamic performance. During the evening, broadcast on France 2, Natasha St-Pier was appointed spokesperson for the French jury. She therefore appeared in front of the camera, dressed in a white sequined dress to announce the points given by France.

Live from Paris, the singer, who won the last season of Dance with the stars, succeeded Anggun, chosen for the exercise last year. As a reminder, the Quebecer represented France in 2001 during Eurovision organized in Copenhagen (Denmark) by performing the title I only have my soul and managed to reach fourth place in the competition, like Slimane this year 2024 with his song My love. As for Natasha St-Pier, her appearance at Eurovision to reveal the points of the French jury was not received in the best way by the spectators. A singer who took a little too much time?

In particular, she marked a fairly long period of hesitation after having launched: “Good evening everyone, what an incredible evening.” And seemed a bit uncomfortable with the exercise. Several Internet users also felt that Elodie Gossuin was much more suited for this role, that she had played in 2016 and 2022, while others launched, without taking a pinch of salt : “Natasha St-Pier made a fool of herself again”, “What a crock”, “Natasha St-Pier didn’t say anything, but she took twice as long as the others to give France’s points”, “Madame, you had to stay at home if you didn’t want to present, we didn’t force you”, could we read on X.
