Report: Poland delivers modern howitzers

Poland is one of the largest suppliers of heavy weapons to Ukraine. Only recently did the country provide more than 200 modernized main battle tanks. Now Warsaw surrenders several self-propelled howitzers.

Poland appears to be supplying massive amounts of weapons to Ukraine again. Like the transmitter Polskie Radio 24 citing government circles, Warsaw is handing over 18 KRAB self-propelled howitzers to the neighboring country. Poland has also trained 100 Ukrainian soldiers on the system. According to the report, Ukraine now has at least 24 self-propelled howitzers from Western stocks. France has already delivered six Caesar systems.

The day before, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov announced that his country had received modified M109 howitzers from US stocks. A confirmation from the USA is still pending. Germany and the Netherlands want to hand over twelve tank howitzers 2000. The training of Ukrainian soldiers is said to have already started. An exact delivery date is not yet known.

According to the report, the KRAB systems that have now been delivered come from Polish stocks. The country had ordered a total of 100 howitzers in 2016 and later increased the order again. The system, made in Poland, has a Rheinmetell chassis. The howitzer uses 155mm ammunition and can fire up to six rounds per minute. The maximum range of the projectiles is 40 kilometers. The delivery is intended to equip three artillery units in Ukraine.

Poland is one of the largest arms suppliers to Ukraine. In the past few weeks, Warsaw has already delivered more than 200 modernized T72 main battle tanks, as well as howitzers, rocket launchers and ammunition.
