Ironically, the outgoing Christopher Nkunku made the preliminary decision in favor of his soon-to-be ex-club in the 80th DFB Cup final. In the 71st minute, the Frenchman took heart after a pass from Dani Olmo and shot from 15 meters. The ball was doubled and deflected untenably for Frankfurt goalie Kevin Trapp, Leipzig led 1-0.
Nkunku’s second prank followed 5 minutes before the end: During a confusion in the Frankfurt penalty area, he got the ball, kept the overview and played Dominik Szoboszlai brilliantly free. The Hungarian easily made it 2-0.
Nkunku is likely to join Chelsea in the summer, all that’s missing is official confirmation.
