2 million copies sold: 34 years later, this cult song will become a film

It is one of the most famous French songs and could well be adapted for the cinema. Patrick Bruel reveals that the script for a film inspired by “Place des Grands Hommes” is currently being written.

34 years after its release, the song “Place des Grands Hommes” could soon become a feature film. In an interview given to the magazine TV 7 dayssinger and actor Patrick Bruel has confirmed that he is preparing a film inspired by his song released in 1989.

Written by Bruno Garcin and composed and performed by Patrick Bruel, the title appears on the album “So look“, which sold more than 2 million copies and was a diamond disc in France. The song evokes the reunion of a group of friends on the steps of the Place des grands hommes, 10 years after the end of their studies.

When the journalist asks the singer if it is true that he is currently working on the film adaptation of his autobiographical song “Place of the Great Men”the latter declares: “Yes, we’ve been thinking about it for a long time. I’ll talk to you about it soon.”

At the microphone ofEurope 1Patrick Bruel explained a few weeks ago that the film’s script was progressing.

The filming of the clip was very moving because there were friends and friendly actors and everyone found themselves for 48 hours in a good atmosphere. No one wanted to leave each other and we wanted to continue with a film. There have been various attempts, various ideas and here we are moving forward. We are moving forward on a scenario. Maybe it will see the light of day soon.

We will see what has become of their children” he then adds.

A film centered on the children of the heroes of the music video?

The feature film should therefore focus on the children of the characters in the famous song and thus evoke the journey of the singer’s childhood friends and their offspring.

We still do not know at this stage whether Antoine Duléry and Christian Charmetant, who appear in the clip “Place of the Great Men“and in its sequel”For life” released in 1999, will be in the cast of the feature film and if Patrick Bruel will ask his son, the young actor Léon Hesby (recently seen in The Promises of his mother Amanda Sthers) to play his son on screen.

We also do not know who will direct the film and whether Elie Chouraqui, director of the clip, will return to service for the feature film.
