As the FIFA World Cup in Qatar kicks off next Sunday, the France team carried out its first training session in Doha. If Karim Benzema, Ballon d’Or 2022, trained separately, another star of the Blues was given a standing ovation by the supporters: Olivier Giroud. A 36-year-old player who gets better with time.

Nicknamed the French phoenix. Olivier Giroud clinched his place for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, his third after 2014 and 2018. Didier Deschamps, convinced that he could be a model replacement, realized the obvious: the striker 36-year-old from AC Milan (Italy) gets better with time. This year, he took advantage of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury to shine and score aerial goals like his illustrious Swedish teammate.

“If you look at some of my goals that I scored in the past, I was already doing ‘Zlataneries’ as they say (laughs). I like acrobatic goals, so to be so decisive is a gift and I hope to continue like this”, declared Olivier Giroud.

“I will be 200%”

But Thursday night in Doha, during training, the Blues striker had a little scare. He collapsed after a powerful strike. Fortunately, the French colossus got up a minute later. A blow watched very closely by the technical team of Didier Deschamps because Karim Benzema, golden ball 2022, is not yet operational on his side. Olivier Giroud, second top scorer in the history of the Blues (49 goals) is therefore ready for the start of the competition. “I will be 200% to help the team,” said the striker of the France team.
