The prefect of Paris Laurent Nunez has just announced the establishment of a security system dedicated to the Olympics, and which will resurrect the famous authorizations equipped with a QR Code.

The Olympic Games which will be held in a little over eight months in Paris are proving to be a security headache for the French authorities. This is why certain exceptional measures have been taken. The first, which caused a lot of discussion, was the implementation of biometric surveillance. And today, it is a tool quite well known to the French which has emerged from its box, with the return of the QR Code!

Paris divided into security zones

15 million people are expected to travel to Paris for the Olympics. So to reduce the risks as much as possible, restrictions on motorized traffic will be imposed by the authorities. Two zones will thus be established. The first, the red zone, near the sites, will prohibit the circulation of motorized vehicles, “unless exempted. »

The second, called the blue zone, will concern a wider perimeter around the red zone. The vehicles which enter must be those of local residents, those who work on site or those who “ want to go to a store or restaurant. » These perimeters will be effective on average two and a half hours before the tests, and one hour after.

The QR Code is back

In addition to these categories, a certain number of exemptions are planned by the prefecture (for example for taxis or VTCs), even if it has not yet completed the list of people who will be entitled to them. Once this has been determined, a platform will be put online on which individuals wishing to obtain their authorization to pass will be able to register. They will then obtain a pass, with a QR Code to be scanned by the police in the event of an inspection.

The administrative process is still likely to be quite cumbersome, if we are to believe the words of Laurent Nunez. He indeed indicated that to obtain the famous authorization, “ you will need to register in advance on a digital platform by providing a certain number of supporting documents, address, but not only that. »

Finally, the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games will be on this special side. Being the first in history to take place outside the stadium, along the Seine, stronger constraints will be imposed on Friday July 26. So, if you live near the Seine, and want to invite friends to your home that day, you will need to enter their name on the platform. The process will be the same if you want to be near the river that day, for example, to go to a restaurant.
